Josh Barber

Josh is a freelance photojournalist specializing in sports photography based in Huntington Beach, Calif.

His passion for capturing the feats of those who play sports and telling their stories is rooted in his past in athletics. Growing up playing soccer and swimming, and running run cross country and track at the collegiate level he strives to make visual the personalities, culture, and experience of athletic competition using his own familiarity and knowledge with the subject.

He recently spent a month at the Orange County Register as an apprentice after graduating with a bachelors degree in Photojournalism from Rochester Institute of Technology. While studying at RIT he worked as Director of Photography for RIT SportsZone, an on campus-produced biweekly sportscast and served as treasurer for the NPPA RIT Student Chapter, helping run the chapter's What We Do photojournalism competition and exhibition. His work has been recognized in the RIT SPAS Honors Show and What We Do photojournalism competition. Formerly he was the photography intern at the Erie (Pa.) Times-News.
