Josh Barber

Josh is a freelance photojournalist and photo editor specializing in sports photography based in Irvine, Calif.

His passion for capturing the feats of those who play sports and telling their stories is rooted in his past in athletics. Growing up playing soccer and swimming, and running cross country and track through the collegiate level he strives to make visual the personalities, culture, and experience of athletic competition using his own familiarity and knowledge with the subject.

Josh has freelanced for nationally known newspapers and NCAA sports tournaments. He has been an on-site editor for professional sports teams and NCAA tournaments. Currently he is a part-time Photographer and Photo Editor for the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team. Formerly he has been a photography intern at the Los Angels of Anaheim baseball team, the Orange County (Calif.) Register and the Erie (Pa.) Times-News and is an alumnus of the Sports Shooter Academy workshop. A graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology, he earned his bachelors of fine arts in the Photojournalism program. While studying at RIT he worked for the RIT Athletics Sports Information Department and as Director of Photography for RIT SportsZone, an on campus-produced sportscast. He is a member of the National Press Photographer Association and was an officer of the organization's RIT Student Chapter.
